Why I read more books

Hey there, this is GKR.

“It’s not that I don’t like people. It’s just that when I’m in the company of others – even my nearest and dearest – there always comes a moment when I’d rather be reading a book.” – Maureen Corrigan

There is a very big reason why I read more books. The number of books that I have read is more than that of the number of films I have seen. I love reading, from my childhood books were my pass time.

Reading has made me the guy that I am now. I read various genres, topics and even comics. What is so good about reading?
The answer is Knowledge. In life, whatever you do, the only thing that can be called as a hobby, profession, time pass and fun, that improves your living standard and educates your brain is the habit of reading.
Reading has helped me understand life. It has helped me understand human evolution, history, past and the present. It has cured me of depression, it has helped me through anxieties and sometimes books have helped me heal and improve my health.

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies . . . The man who never reads lives only one.” – George R.R. Martin

“Reading is essential for those who seek to rise above the ordinary.” – Jim Rohn

"So please, oh please, we beg, we pray, go throw your TV set away, and in its place, you can install a lovely bookshelf on the wall." – Roald Dahl

The number of people who have achieved big by not reading books is less than a percentage where are the number of people who have achieved big by reading books are more than 99 per cent of them.
Here is a list of people who met success through books.

  1. Elon Musk (He read books on rocket science and started SpaceX. He never went to study rocket science in schools)
  2. Bill Gates (Reads fifty books a year)
  3. Warren Buffet (Spends six hours a day reading books and newspapers. He claims books taught him how to invest and thus helped him become a multi-billionaire)
  4. Steve Jobs (Books made him a vegan, he claimed that books is the key to improve social knowledge)
  5.  Abdul Kalam (Anyone who read his autobiography would know that his love for books was far greater than that of his love for science)

“No entertainment is so cheap as reading, nor any pleasure so lasting.” – Mary Wortley Montagu

I recommend you read lots of books in your early twenties to ensure a great life ahead.
Have a great read.
